Here we all are - the five Candidates for Holy Orders - Permanent Diaconate. We're pictured in the sacristy of Westminster Cathedral with His Grace The Most Reverend Vincent Nichols Archbishop of Westminster, just before Mass on Saturday 19th December. At that Mass His Grace accepted us as Candidates for Holy Orders. He's also a Liverpool supporter - but I won't hold that against him! By the way, that's not me in the middle! Fr Stephen Bartlett the Director of the Permanent Diaconate Formation Programme in the Archdiocese of Westminster, is on the left, already vested for Mass.

Dear Brian
This is off topic but ...
Would you feel able to post something about (a) what it is that makes you feel called to the permanent diaconate and (b) what you see as your specifically diaconal role after, God willing, you are ordained? Do you feel called to a particular ministry after ordination? I would be particularly interested to read about (b).
I quite understand if you do not want to post about this.

Hello Joe
Many thanks for your comment. I'm up for that challenge on both accounts! Give me a couple of weeks or so and I'll post in response. At the moment I have an essay deadline and a Formation Sunday coming at me like a speeding train! I'll tip you the nod when I've posted.
best wishes!
Brian
